Another great reason to breast feed ....

Depression is a serious illness that can be life threatening. Medline Plus describes depression as being more than just a feeling of being "down in the dumps" or "blue" for a few days. The feelings associated with depression do not go away. These negative feelings persist and interfere with your everyday life. Symptoms of depression can include sadness, loss of interest or pleasure in activities you used to enjoy, change in weight, difficulty sleeping or oversleeping, energy loss, feelings of worthlessness, and thoughts of death or suicide.

Medline Plus writes that breast-feeding offers many benefits to your baby. Breast milk contains the right balance of nutrients which can help your infant grow into a strong and healthy toddler. And, some of the nutrients in breast milk help protect your infant against some common childhood illnesses and infections. Breast-feeding may also help the mothers health. It has been reported certain types of cancer may occur less often in mothers who have breast-fed their babies.

on my dad's side, depression and anxiety and cancer are fairly common going back as far as I can get health information...four generations at the very least. I'm almost 60, so that means a whole lot of my ancestors didn't get modern baby formula.
