(110,159 posts)stats, twice, took me down both times. i walked from university because of that class, twice. i still kick myself for it.
i am glad you understood what you did. my son is genius level in all things macro. english, reading, history and some (nonmathmatical) science, economics, .... and math takes him down. he finished his calculus class last year, relieved, with a barely C. he sits at a 94% GPA. physics was a monster for him. and he told me, all the way thru, he never understood it. he listened, he studied, he worked at it and never "got it". BUT... colleges are after him for his other skills.
get thru the math however you can, tobin. dont let one class, that will never be a part of your future, stop you.
glad you thought this thru. and you are moving forward.
thanks for the story.

(10,420 posts)I took a statistics class a long time ago and did well with the professor grading heavily on a curve. I probably would have gotten a 'D' otherwise and you have to have at least a 'C' for it to count toward your degree. At least that's the way it was at that school. But now they want me to take that damn class again! Grrrr. I think that's a tough one for most people. It's not like batting averages and MPG. I wish it was that easy.

(10,420 posts)It might have been different if he was like that with everybody, but it just seemed to be me. I don't know what his problem was.

(12,869 posts)He got in a fight with my brother, who was a Graduate Assistant, and things went downhill after that.
I quit and didn't go back. Probably a mistake, Uncle Sam and a family got in the way.

(58 posts)You may have awoken a strong new element of yourself you never knew existed. We all have to fight sometimes to be true to ourselves and adversity can be a great teacher.
I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind.
Some come from ahead and some come from behind.
But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see.
Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!
