UPDATE Just emailed my primary about pain

Last edited Mon May 20, 2024, 01:14 PM - Edit history (1)

Thank you everyone for your care and concern. I emailed my primary DR yesterday, explaining my pain and symptoms, yadda. His office called me this morning for a telehealth visit.

Per Friday tests, theres no blood in my urine. He suggested bowel cleanse with Miralax and Colace, so I got some and used it. I feel a bit better today. If not resolved, then I'll get a GI referral.

Thanks all

elling him symptoms and results of my visit advising what to do and asking for gastro referral.

I like the way they can look up your records, from other health facilities, on a main computer in the doctors office.

Read my urine test online and its all clear. I told him it was clear. Pain migrates from side to side. Really at a loss here

Back in 2013, I started suffering very mild twinges of pain on my left side. At first, whenever it would happen, I would go drink a little bit of milk and it would go away. But, as time went on, the twinges turned into bursts. It finally got so bad that I went to the emergency room. There, I was told that I may have a kidney stone. They gave me some pain meds and took an x-ray, which they said showed nothing. The pain went back to being slight for the next few months, and I did not think about it again. Then, they started up again. I went to the emergency room, where they said I definitely had kidney stones and needed to get them checked an removed. They gave me some pain meds and the number to a urologist. I went to see that guy. He also said that I must have a kidney stone and started making arrangements to get them removed. Unfortunately, I lost my job and I had to cancel the surgery, as I had no insurance and certainly had no money for such a thing.

So, a few more months go by and then it starts back up again. The pain was always on the left, but was always shifting from one spot to another. Finally, I had to do something. I went to a local county clinic. The doctor listened to my story, including the fact that three doctors had all said that it was kidney stones. He shook his head and said 'no, that is not it.' He prescribed me three things. Metformin, Glipizide, and Gabapentin (he tried to prescribe Lyrica and after seeing the $485/30 pills price, I made him switch it to something less posh). I went home and got the scripts filled and started taking them that night. After three hours, all of it was gone! The pain, the queasiness, the hot and cold flashes... all gone!

You see, I did not have kidney stones. I had become a Type II diabetic. The first three doctors had mis-diagnosed what was wrong. Remember, only the first one suggested that it might be that... the other two were certain.

So, with all that said, if this is something that you had not considered before, you might do so. I was pretty surprised to find out I had developed it, although I do meet many of the criteria. I was always pretty healthy when I was younger. I guess that didn't mean a lot.

I hope things work out for you. I will send some good vibes your way when I can.
