Had a very good medication assessment meeting

I was an anxious mess, this morning. Time just dragged.

She asked lots of questions in very interesting ways and managed to put me at ease, relatively quickly. She asked if I had any children and I said, 'No. I have cats so YES I am one of those dangerous, childless chat ladies.' She started to LAUGH!! Turns out she's a strong liberal who loves that FB page.

I'm getting a total change of medications. She actually said being on Ativan for anything other than short term is just not a good idea. And I'm getting something to help me sleep. Dare I say that I'm feeling somewhat hopeful?

I go back in 2 months to see how things are working. Meanwhile I'll see my regular therapist next Wednesday.

Now to wait for that call that my prescriptions are ready to pick up. I know that some medications take a while before you really feel the full benefit so I won't be impatient.

Now I'm going to make something to eat since all I've had, today, is a lemon poppy seed muffin.

Yes, any benzodiazepine like Ativan will be addictive to most, eventually. Not all, but the body develops a tolerance that makes you need more and more, usually.

BTW nothing I am saying here is meant to be adverse opinion to your health professionals, I am just naturally curious what the drugs are and will want to see over time what they do and how you do on them. Especially if one of them is for sleep, that is an interesting area.

Obviously you will share only what you are comfortable sharing, if anything. Thanks!

The APN I've seen at Oak Street seems to think that anxiety is like having a cold. It's no big deal and it will pass. From some of the other very callous things she's said to me, I'm beginning to believe she just took an instant dislike to me. Not sure why but the way she spoke to me was taken directly from the text book on how NOT to talk to people with anxiety.

never developed a problem with Ativan. Rather, I rationed it like crazy because I KNEW the odds of getting a refill, or an alternative medication were zip from that APN.

I've been prescribed Trazodone for my sleep issues. I'm going to start with 1/2 a tablet and see how that does.

The main thing was, It was just nice to be listened to instead of feeling like Charley Brown's teacher. I'd mentioned my sleep issues (brain spin) to the APN and it went in one ear and out the other.

This PA reiterated that having anxiety affects every part of you. Especially when it cane be as crippling as mine, under certain circumstances, and we are going to do what we need to in order to get it under control.

I was hoping it would be a positive experience for you. Glad to hear it was, relatively speaking.

I saw my therapist this morning and I started by singing the first verse of that Marsh Family parody of vance. She laughed because she saw it this weekend and loves it! We have fun most of the time, except when something in my world gets messed up, we talk about politics sometimes.

I don't use meds other than cannabis, I try to keep my use low.

Having an appointment with your therapist soon is good.
