Bought a gabb phone for my son.

Last year I turned in his phone. He had an obsession with it. The main problem was he would read something on it and not really understand what it said or worry about it constantly. It could be something that had no direct impact on us , but to him it was next door.
He did pretty good without it. But after he decided to use his bicycle without telling anyone to go to the store and passed out along the road with a heatstroke I knew I had to do something. I knew he wouldnt carry around a AirTag. So I bought the phone.
Positives.
He does keep it on him all the time.
I can use the app and see where hes at.
It doesnt have news or internet so he doesnt get worried and obsessive over things happening around America.
He feels good having the phone.
Negatives.
Initial setup.
Had a hard time getting it paired with my phone. I followed the instructions and at one point the app on my phone said to scan the QR code or enter the ime number. A QR code never showed up on his phone so I entered the ime number. That didnt work. The app also instructed me to use Bluetooth to pair the phones. I checked that both phones had Bluetooth enabled that didnt work. Chatted with gabb and no help. His phone was working except his music app wasnt. Tried chat again with gabb help online and no help. About a week after that tried again and everything worked perfectly. The QR code turned up on his phone no problem. I think they didnt do something at their end. Pretty sure it had something to do with billing after receiving the first monthly bill to send approval to whoever before it would work. The monthly payment was withdrawn about a week before it fully started working.
Setup instructions on their website was sparse. It just said start up app and follow instructions. But didnt say anything about if it had problems.
Im glad I got it for him. Everything seems to work now. He likes being able to text us. Hes not going overboard on it. I could have bought a regular phone and downloaded one of the apps where you can see where someone is located at but like I said I didnt want him having news or internet. He can get pretty confused. For awhile before my wife passed away he thought we were moving because she liked watching the home shows. I have to keep the information packet on his prescriptions away from him because he thinks if it has a warning about pregnant women using it he thinks it means its just for women.
Edit: I forgot to mention it is meant for kids and has different levels for different ages. It also allows emergency or others to bypass the Lock Screen and call the emergency contacts.
