I'm under the supervision of a doctor for weight loss.
First I detox, then adopt a program of eating organic food including some fish. I am eliminating flour, bread, pasta, soy, with minimal dairy, beef, and pork.
I've stayed true for six weeks, losing 10 pounds. My belly made me look like I was in my second trimester. Now it's flatter. OK, it's first trimester, but it's decidedly better. My energy is just fine. My cravings are gone. I divide my smallish dinner plate into quadrants, two for vegetables, one for brown or royal blend rice, and the last for protein. I finally accept portion control.
I only shop for food at farmers markets, Fairway, Trader Joes, and Whole Foods.
While I and my doctor don't call it a diet, there are elements of Paleo, Sugar Busters, Wheat Belly, and South Beach that I recognize.
I'll check in later to give updates.

(48,628 posts)Very slowly losing weight, about 1 to 2 pounds a week.
Being very faithful to the program. Cautiously re-introducing single items after Elimination Diet. No adverse reactions to tomatoes, bell peppers. My portion size greatly reduced but I'm not hungry.
Results: Lost 10 pounds since beginning of July. My belly started looking swollen where it resembled a second trimester pregnancy. This morning, it's greatly reduced to where it's gently rounded. I have a CHIN!! Not a double chin where it's really a combination of neck and chin. And a jawline. My face is less rounded, more defined, and less swollen. My father once thought I might have adrenal issues as my face resembled moon facies. Not anymore.
Still work to do, but it's a very good start.

(48,628 posts)I started my program in July. I lost 10 pounds right away, but it was water. But hey, 10 lbs is 10 lbs, right?
I have stayed loyal to my eating protocol without trauma or bankruptcy. I buy only from the farmers market and have grassfed chicken, eggs, lamb, and beef and very little at that.
My appetite has dwindled to two real meals a day. I'm taking supplements which include glutathione, collagen, alpha lipoic acid, olive leaf, resveratrol, and more.
I changed my exercise. I used to daily go on a treadmill for 60 minutes at 3 mph. I have upped it to 4 mph for 5 minutes and reduce it .1 every 5 or 10 minutes until 3.7 mph for 60 minutes. I now do tabata training which reminds me of high school gym exercises. 20 seconds of jumping jacks, 20 seconds of sit ups, 20 seconds of virtual jumping rope, etc. up to 8 exercises with some rest and then another series of 8 exercises.
I hit a weight plateau after losing 10 lbs. But I've lost another 4.5 lbs in the past 3 weeks, so I'm happy. My medical guy told me to be patient and stay with the program. My waist is also 2 inches narrower.
Maybe I'm really pleased the most about is my neck has narrowed. And I have a jaw-line again. I know this is kinda vain, but it matters to me.
I feel good as far as energy, thinking, sleeping.

(59,305 posts)like you I decided to go to a Dr. because my way wasn't working. I'm on a program where I limit my carb intake substantially, around 30 carbs a day, and instead of intense cardio like I've always done my doctor encouraged me to do strength training. I've been on this program since the day after Thanksgiving of last year and as of yesterday I've lost 50lbs.
I was in a bad way last Oct after a few months of dieting/exercise and holding my nose to the grind and I lost only 3lbs....so I decided to ask for help from a dr, I was so sick/tired of doing the same thing and failing.
