Weight Loss/Maintenance
Related: About this forumI started a juice reboot
After watching Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead a couple of times, I found a juicer at a thrift store for $15 and decided to go for it. I'm morbidly obese (271 lbs., 5'6" but I also have to take 8 prescription medicines and I still feel like crap. I started on the 19th, and this morning I weighed 264 and I had lost an inch from my waist! I don't expect to continue losing at that pace and I wouldn't want to, but this might just work.
Here's the movie on Hulu, for free. I know it's on Netflix too.

(20,234 posts)I watched that again last week. It doesn't fit with my life right now, it's more something I'd maybe try if I wasn't fixing meals for the family. But I always find it motivating for my diet in general.

(20,672 posts)and one meal with some animal protein, usually fish or chicken. No grains, no dairy and now, no legumes. I was concerned about losing muscle because Joe Cross said on his website that he lost 70% fat and 30% muscle, but women tend to lose 60% fat and 40% muscle. If I can continue losing this way, I'll stick to it.
This is a really inspirational video as well.

(797 posts)I tried the juice diet twice, it was somewhat successful inasmuch as i lost 20lbs on the first go round but gained it all back as fast as i lost it.Second attempt went about the same as the first attempt.
Problem with a full juice diet is its really tough, your will power is constantly tested and if you have to cook for a family cheating is a frequent occurrence,Ultimately the full juice diet wasnt for me as it was unsustainable and once you stopped the juicing you gained all the weight back.
I'm now on the Joel Fuhrman approach to healthy living where its not so much a diet but a continuous dietary lifestyle.
