(1,884 posts)It teaches you a lot about food choices, nothing is off limits. Foods are divided into green, yellow and red categories and you log everything, they make it easy. They limit the reds and to a lesser degree the yellows. It gives you a daily calorie goal and tracks it for you. That part is great.
Also gives you a daily walking goal and tracks it.
And everyday you get some cool ideas to modify how you think about food, it is really effective.
You log your weight.
You have a useLess coach and a group to share with.
It works.

(537 posts)I thought the same thing. Like what?? But i was reading the other day somewhere how people utilized them. It was way different than I was. I'd just answer his questions, not thinking that I could ask him to help with my obstacles. Reading others experience helped me to see the coach in a different light.

(133 posts)You can download the My Fitness Pal for free.... it does most of the same things and has an excellent food and exercise tracker.
Been using it for several years and love it. Lost 100 pounds.

(31,966 posts)and was following it pretty carefully for about 8 weeks. Lost 13 lbs. Then I left for a 2 week birthday trip to a Caribbean island I'd had planned for over a year. Coronavirus. Decided to come home a week early before I got stuck there, and the only thing I've done on Noon since mid March is weigh every day. All discipline and new behaviors shot to hell.
I am down 2 more lbs and keep telling myself I will resume Noom, but somehow I don't follow through.
Changing behavior is a real challenge.
Good luck!
If it wasn't for the pandemic, I don't think I'd be this successful. Not working, not going anywhere, seeing anyone. 100% can be devoted to this, and I'm hoping by the time life returns to "normal" It will be a habit by then. I kicked smoking with the same mindset I have here.
Hope you get back on the horse.

(43,049 posts)seem to be anything that I can swing into with lessstress and more effort than I'm interested in.
Yes, I know anything worth having or doing take effort-- been preaching that all my life. It's just that my mindset is that exercise is essentially a waste of time with no mental stimuli. No, I don't really believe that, but my biggest struggle is with that attitude, wherever it came from.
Anyway, the reviews of Noom say it's a phone app only, with little function on a desktop PC. I don't really now about that since you can sign up on a pc. I did find it curious that the signup did have health questions, but nothing about smoking or drinking. Yet they managed, with much cartoon graphics, to come up with a "plan" for me. I'll cost me 10 bucks to find out what it is, though.
(I wouldn't mid paying the 10 bucks, but I can't find my wallet.)
Anyway, My Fitness Pal seems to do pretty much the same thing, including turning my phone into a pedometer, and it's free. I assume Noom includes a pedometer, since it talked about my stride, but there's that 10 bucks...
Anyway, I shall see how it goes.
(And I'm really worried about that lost wallet.)

(1,884 posts)Been sticking to Noom. I am now at a healthy BMI. What stinks is buying all the new clothes. I highly recommend Noom if you want to lose weight and keep it off!
This will be my dilemma soon! I keep thinking what am I going to wear??? BUT realized I have old clothes on my way up to wear on my way down! A few sizes at least. How crazy is that? Rather stay unhealthy cause clothes?
One thing I have noticed last week was my wrinkles are showing up! SAD.... You know they were nice and filled out before.

(537 posts)Me too! Early Oct. Down 13.5 . Took me 3 weeks to gather recipes or at least figure out what to put together, clean out my pantry, fridge , freezer and restock. Feeling like a new person!
Considered lap band for years, but in the back of my mind I knew the psychological aspects were the issue and always would be.
This is a game changer! No white anything for me, minimal sugar. Water only. 90% plant based as I'm still incorporating eggs, meat, cheese into meals.
No one told me about this App just happened to see it. I haven't told anyone what I'm doing except Dr last week. She seemed very happy, I took w grain of salt so I didn't jinx myself.
