I'm at a Korean bbq restaurant having some realllly interesting and HOT food!
on edit, after arriving home:
I'm posting a few details about this place because it was such an interesting way to serve Korean food.
You have a choice of the soup menu or the BBQ menu. Being a noodle lover, I chose the soup menu, which gave me about 35 different items to choose from.
on the upper left, fresh spinach, then clockwise are tofu, shumai, breaded shrimp, shiitakes, and in the middle, ramen noodles.
They give you a variety of broths; I chose miso.
At the top of the photo is a "burner" which you control with a remote. It keeps your soup hot while you have it from a soup bowl.
The booths are large and each spot has one of these "burners." There were four burners.
In addition, in the middle is the BBQ, so you cook your own BBQ on this "grill."
All this is engineered so it's pretty safe. You know people can be careless, so I imagine a lot of thought went into putting this together.
Then there is this long station you can go to with all kinds of Korean BBQ sauces and other types of sauces, too. There was peanut sauce, chopped scallion, garlic, kimchi, you name it.
The service was excellent, too. I had a great time and would go again.

The last time I had Korean BBQ was in Kyoto (Japan). We (a group of ten) were having trouble communicating that we wanted to try some of everything and were willing to pay whatever they wanted and then would order more of whatever we liked. They went next door and then a young lady came over and in a New York accent asked what we wanted. They took good care of us and didn't hurt us on the bill.
Great story! This restaurant concept is made to answer requests like that.

Were anchored south of Miami at Dinner Key.
The First Mate is making her (in)famous pizza from scratch. She made the dough while we sailed and its ready to go. The pie will have tomato sauce, chunks of fresh tomatoes, minced garlic, anchovies, green pepper slivers all topped with mozzarella and Parmesan cheeses.
Im making a classic Caesar salad. Someone in the restaurant business once told me that a proper Caesar salad should have 13 croutons to symbolize how many time Julius was stabbed. Anyone know if this is true?
Fresh berries for dessert.

(4,231 posts)I put a chuck roast with new red potatoes, onions, and a rainbow of colored organic carrots into the oven a bit ago to slow cook until that meat falls apart.
This is a hard day for me. I lost my Soulmate cat one year ago tonight, and have had a hard time keeping from crying all day. Thankfully, I planned supper yesterday so all I had to do was throw it into the pan, along with my spices and set it in the oven. That's about all I can handle today.

Went to a Korean restaurant for lunch today, though, and had soon dooboo - tofu soup with fish roe.
