(24,013 posts)Do you make your own kombucha? You always seem to have wonderful flavor combinations with your meals.

(37,864 posts)I buy it in massive quantities, too, 'cuz I never want to run out. I mostly buy it at WF. When I walk in the door, sometimes the clerks look at each other and have somebody make a run for what they want because they know I will be filling up my cart, LOL.
Right now I have a dozen 48-oz bottles of Health-Ade and maybe about six of the 12 oz. It has to be refrigerated, which limits my acquisitions somewhat.
They do have the most marvelous flavors to choose from.
I have made it before and it's different, but I liked it. It's a bit milder on the fizziness. I'm going to make some more soon because I want to get more into fermentation. I also want to make kim chi. I already got the cookbooks and am studying up!

(24,013 posts)Im out west so Im not sure what that is. I am just starting to get into kombucha
its supposed to be good for gut health and I am interested in that. Same with Kim chi.
There are several kombucha makers where I live that sell at the farmers markets and at kombucha tap rooms. There is so much to learn.

(37,864 posts)I should know better than that. Whole Foods.
Yes it is good for gut health and it is also low in carbs. There is sugar in the process to start with, but it breaks down in the process of fermentation so the end result is very little sugar.
It has a tart taste, which is what I like. It's so refreshing. I like it better than I liked wine, back when I drank that.
You are lucky to be able to buy from the farmer's markets and the kombucha tap rooms. We don't have that here.

I'm getting soooo tired of food: shopping for it, cooking it and even eating it.

(24,013 posts)Me too! I love good food .I enjoy making food but damn its a chore planning meals, shopping for the food and getting it done day in and day out.

(37,864 posts)It's good to share the shopping responsibiities. I can't see doing the shopping AND doing the cooking AND cleaning up the dishes. Share those tasks.
A big advantage to me is the RG is a pro in the kitchen. He can whip up a meal in 15 minutes that would take me two hours.

(22,767 posts)So that's my responsibility, taken on voluntarily. It's just that food has so little appeal for me anymore. It's just hard to plan meals and shop when nothing even sounds appealing.
He does drive whenever we go into town (not that I can't or won't, that's just his thing taken on voluntarily) and hauls the majority of the groceries into the house. He's also the handyman and yard guy, so there's that.

(22,883 posts)We have some left-overs to make this flavorful dish.
Sweet sausage, shrimp, carrots, onions, green peppers, tomatoes, corn, chilis and garlic. After frying all of that, we add some beef broth and yellow rice. Cajun hot sauce on the side. A one-pot meal!
Cold lagers and a beautiful Miami sunset!

(24,790 posts)and bought a can of Phillips blue crab claw meat (14.99). My wife made the most wonderful crab cakes and cole slaw. I made the appetizer, a shrimp cocktail served in Martini glasses.
