What's for Dinner, Sun., May 14, 2023

Doing mini-meals today.

Chicken sausages (sundried tomato-spinach) wrapped in turkey bacon and served in a tortilla wrap (flour). The RG bought so many condiments for the party we had a week or so ago. I've chosen one which is a craft beer mustard with sauerkraut in it, billed as "squeezable kraut." The name of it is "Sauer Frau" and is has a picture of a crabby lady on the front.

Later on a cucumber salad with dill in sour cream.

I might also make egg noodles with cabbage just to have around the house for the next day or so.

Dr. Pepper cream soda to drink.

Dessert: milk chocolate square with almond. Vanilla nut decaf.

However, I'm barbecuing a pork shoulder low and slow all day for tomorrow's dinner, and making the sauce on the stove. The house and backyard both smell wonderful!

and I really should have. Would have brightened it up a bit.

They're mostly referred to as puff pastry tarts. The first one I ever made was this one:

After that, I just started throwing whatever I want on it.

I also recently found this site, but have only browsed it so far:

We're making Curried Chicken Thighs. It's a new recipe, so we'll see how that goes. Making brown basmati rice too.

Garlic and a half lemon in the cavity, butter with thyme and salt under the skin. Roast beets and salad.

We'll repeat this once during the week, then mix the last of the chicken with rice, ground lamb and other things for a Lebanese chicken and rice dish for a third meal.

Hamburger with bun and with Hot Nashville chicken also with bun (Townhall has many gluten-free options). We had fries with truffle oil and salad. For dessert citrus cheesecake and a brownie sundae which we also split.

We had seen Tina Turner (Broadway) at playhouse Square earlier which was excellent. She surprised me with tickets and a new dress to wear...such a sweet thing to do! Late post because I got home late.

steak from Costco, asparagus on the grill; sauteed mushrooms; a green salad with the last head of lettuce from the garden. For dessert: strawberry shortcake, with home-made biscuits. I'm in the Bay Area, just over the hills from some large strawberry farms - I can usually find some that ripened in the fields and are too mature to ship at the local farmers' markets.
