Normally I bake chocolate pound cake a huge tradition.
This year he wanted something different, & boy did he come up with different!
I am making a Lemon layer cake with orange curd between the layers and orange flavored cream cheese frosting. The photo on Pinterest is beautiful - we will see what I can do with it.
The butter has softened so it's time to get started.
Love trying out a new cake recipe but everyone usually wants either Italian Cream, Carrot or Red Velvet. Occasionally coconut or very chocolate. In the family chocolate pound cake always rules.

(113,130 posts)so I ordered one with my regular groceries. It was a great idea.
Julia Child was big on citrus dessert recipes, bummer because I'm allergic to citrus. That shouldn't stop you, though. You could easily find that chocolate pound cake recipe languishing in your remote memory.

The exact recipe is on Pinterest as Trisha Yearwood's Chocolate Pound Cake...it is a wonderful cke.
mr YD's grandmother made them for the family for years and years. Sent them to her grandkids when they were going to be wy on their birthdays and/or Christmas
After she stopped baking, I decided to pick up the tradition. The first time I made it for Thanksgiving, my husband's brothers and nephews all said "Is that what I THINK it is? " I don't think they would let me in the door if I did not bring it.

(22,701 posts)We took it to lunch with two of his siblings (his brother took us out to lunch for the birthday)
Our lunch was a favorite Italian family owned spot (good Democrats, great food, huge quantities and very budget friendly prices). They let folks in with birthday or other occasion cakes quite often. It's a BYOB place also.
We gave some of the cake to the restaurant workers (we just can't have that much of such a rich cake in our house); my in-laws really liked it.
It is filled with orange curd which really gave it a good POP!
