What's for Dinner, Sat., Oct. 14, 2023

Lentil sausage cabbage soup with cornbread. The cornbread has bits of cheddar and green chiles in it and I serve it with butter and hot pepper jelly.

Ginger kombucha, which I made.

Dessert: the other half of my ice cream dessert that I mentioned yesterday.

It’s a rainy clammy day and the kitchen needs warming up!

We’re roasting a duck with orange glaze and orange slices. Wild rice and broccoli.

Fresh berries for dessert.

farmer's market this morning, so this afternoon I made some roasted tomato soup. It's delicious. So we'll have that along with some havarti grilled cheese sandwiches. Definitely some comfort food for tonight as it's windy and gloomy out!

cheese grits, steamed broccoli with lemon, and pears from the Farmers Market poached in moscato.

I am kinda sad because I spent a fair amount of time making a King Ranch chicken casserole, and an autumnal green salad with fruit, cheese and toasted walnuts, and the dressing for it, for a church potluck tomorrow that probably won't happen because one person who attended a book club attended by several congregants LAST Saturday, came down with covid so now at least half the congregation is planning to attend by Zoom. I guess my husband, son and I will learn to love chicken casserole!

She's been angling to commandeer the leftovers all day. There's not enough for two but that's OK by me. I love wide, knife cut noodles with cabbage and green onions. Oh so good with soy sauce, black vinegar, and chili oil! Slurp!

Cold, windy and damp outside. I smell like wood smoke, but we had plenty of good food to eat.
