Earlier in the day I made a beef meatloaf and roasted Brussels sprouts the Ina Garten way. I put a pan of water in the oven to keep the meatloaf moist. In addition, I sliced a couple ripe tomatoes and put them on top. This did a good job of keeping it from drying out, as Ina tells you to have the oven at 400 for the Brussels sprouts.
I noticed when I checked for doneness, the water in the pan was steaming.
This evening, however, I am making a watermelon salad with feta cheese. It got up to 78 here! Good time to use up that melon. I'm fairly certain I won't be seeing temps like this again for a while.
Cherry kombucha.
Dessert is a tangerine and some cashews along with dark Chinese tea.

(18,905 posts)I cut a butternut squash in half and roasted it at 425 for about 35 minutes, had some of that too.

(24,004 posts)I was going to make a salad too but it is snowing and blowing so I might sub crispy Parmesan Brussels sprouts instead. Pretty sure the below freezing temps toasted my lettuce plants in the garden.
Im so envious of temps in the 70s!

(56,439 posts)We owed them a few favors, and it was time. They have a favorite Italian place in a quiet part of Düsseldorf near the airport. It is run by two Italian guys, and they know us well, too. They speak fluent German to our friends and my wife, and Italian to me We "italiani" gotta stick together, after all. Of course, I'm no more Italian than Emperor Akihito, but I can speak it, and that's all they care about.
Three of us had a mixed fish grill (cod, salmon, and large shrimp) and salad, where my wife had some spaghetti with fresh sliced truffles, swished around in a half hollowed out huge Parmesan cheese bowl while still hot, and then served on a large plate. No one went home hungry.

Got Dungeness for $8 a lb so some in freezer. I am going to get three meals out of two lbs. $16 woot!
I used a claw and a claw and legs for the soup. Still have two leg parts to eat as entree and already had the others last Friday. MmmmmMmmm!
