Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumFoodies who love to cook but are tired of the "wars" on the Food Network, give RECIPE TV a try.
To me cooking is something to enjoy, teach family, encourage each other. AND I have found a GEM: Recipe TV. Their descriptor is: "Recipe TV Featuring the World's Greatest Chefs." Wonderful, delicious show that takes you all over the world w/world renown chefs. My favorite is The French Pub w/a very kind chef from Normandy, France featuring fresh seafood, vegetables, fresh everything. Love this channel. On Cox in SoCal it's channel 114. Baking at Ballyknocken is another one of my favs on Recipe TV.
I know a lot of people enjoy "Pati's Mexican Kitchen" on PBS. This is similar. My husband and sister (both totally different personalities) both love this show and make sure to record it.

I'd forgotten about Patti's though. I see it comes on a 2am here, so I've set it up to record.

(46 posts)I despise these dumb shows. Lets see what you can make with a basket of Limburger cheese, School paste and chocolate coated rubber bands. I mean where have all the just cooking shows gone. Its always a contest
.you have 12 minutes to impress the judges? Im also tired of those pulled pork barbecue contests too. Dont get me started on the holiday cake contests.
Even Emril was better than the shows today.
Rant over.

(7,506 posts)This show gives family friendly recipes without the exotic ingredients. I've left all the others. One of them, a woman from the south used so much butter and other fats that I was turned off.
Once in a while I will make a recipe from Jacques Pepin but since I'm alone, there is too much food to be prepared.
Sip&Feast is predominately Italian food. Easy to divide into portions. It is a family affair and worthy of a watch.
My only complain with his show is that he uses too much garlic and olive oil. Olive oil is too $$ for me and 5 or 6 cloves leaves me thinking...Do I have to go anywhere today?
Check it out. Not just Italian food but a variety of other recipes.
