Pumpkin Pie

Finished the process of getting fresh pumpkin pulp from the sugar pumpkin for the pie.

Geez, it's messy and time-consuming.

But I'd do it all over again in order to forego Libby's canned pumpkin.

BTW, my recipe has brandy in it.

... thinly slice the pumpkin (as in THINLY - with a mandolin)...
... toss all the spices and sugars you would use with the slices ....
.... and bake as you would an apple pie.....

I'm going to use the recipe in my Cook's Country cook book. And while I have great confidence in the cookbook, I KNOW the recipe isn't like my mom's. It calls for maple syrup instead of corn syrup. And it's served w/ a bourbon whipped cream.

Kind of a big deal to bring a pecan pie to Thanksgiving that isn't like mom's. I'm going to do it anyway, especially since I got all the ingredients. (Maple syrup isn't cheap.)

I've decided Mom wouldn't mind.
