Cooking & Baking
Related: About this forumNeed some advce from all you cooks.
I have a package of a dozen uncooked meatballs. Got them earlier this year and froze them. I want to use 6 of them today so I took them out of the freezer, but of course could not break them apart as they were all frozen together. I have defrosted them enough that I was able to split the pack in the middle giving me the 6 I will use today, and 6 not to be used today.
My question; can I put the 6 I'm not going to use today back in the freezer? They did not defrost through, just enough that I could split the package up into 2 packs.
Thanks for your help.

(7,972 posts)Usually when I have to do this I will go ahead and cook them all and refreeze If you need to.

(804 posts)It's just too dangerous. Cook them all, then refreeze the COOKED ones you didn't eat.

(55,700 posts)main problem would be slight loss of flavor/texture. cook thoroughly within a couple of months. risk is there due more to fact of ground meat product in first place, not slight thaw and refreeze.

(10,611 posts)Otherwise it depends on how long the meat was out and how thawed it got, In the future consider freezing things in one or two meal portions
