Greens with melted cheese over naan bread. Using arugula, mustard, broccoli rabe, and chopped hazelnuts.
The cheeses I am using are: provolone, Taleggio, and Fontina.
I'll drizzle a little Saba over the top.
No sugar cherry cola.
Dessert: a few squares of milk chocolate.

(10,838 posts)It's a packaged mix of greens, carrots, etc, to which I'll add onion and slices of pork chop which are marinating in a mix of soy sauce, rice vinegar, sesame oil, and ginger.
White wine for drinking.
Choice of strawberry or caramel praline ice cream for dessert;

Got the meaty ham hock from Easter out of the freezer yesterday. Ive never made it before so am using this recipe:

Edit: The soup turned out nicely! It needs some extra salt in each bowl but thats ok. I was afraid to add too much to the pot in case the ham made it salty.

(18,841 posts)My grandson cooked burgers on the grill, and my daughter made a chopped dill salad, and artichoke dip. I made potato salad and took some strawberries I picked this morning. She had a pound cake and topping. Yum. And coffee.
I heard that pound cake got its name because you beat a pound of butter, a pound of sugar, a pound of eggs and a pound of flour. (from a recipe book called The Weekend Chef) I don't know if that's a joke or not

(60 posts)Not sure where I read it, but I recall the story.
As an aside, my first pound cake failed by about 2 1/2 pounds. The densest thing I ever baked! I could've used it as a tire chock!
