Swordfish steak, pan-seared. Cast iron pan. Fresh lemon. I'll have some herbs like rosemary and parsley chopped and in olive oil/garlic to dip each bite in if I want.
Made the salad last night: lotta' work. It's a variation on the Gem Salad with Lemon Cream and Hazelnuts.
Cherry kombucha.
Small square of tres leches cake and dark Chinese tea for dessert.

(22,883 posts)The Landlady made her wonderful fried chicken in her grandpas very heavy cast iron frying pan. The secret is she adds some bacon grease to the oil for flavor. She also double flours the pieces before frying. Delicious.
We also had mashed potatoes with chicken gravy and a salad of an heirloom tomato with red onion, garlic, olive oil and Balsamic vinegar.
On this Memorial Day, Im humbled and grateful for the men and women who gave their lives for our freedoms.

Low sodium soy sauce
Maple syrup
Dijon mustard
Miso
Zest and juice of a lemon
Grated ginger
Grated garlic
Dried oregano, sage, thyme
Black pepper
With:
Thai mango slaw
Grilled asparagus, eggplant, zucchini
Smashed avocados
Corn street taco tortillas
Perhaps even an Aperol spritz beforehand?
Its raining here in the Catskills, so thisll be porch-grilling.

(1,760 posts)Love the combination of spicy (serranos), herby (mint and cilantro), salty (fish sauce), sweet (coconut sugar) and crunchy (cabbage and carrots).
