At some point the red coloring called Red Dye #3 was determined to be bad for us and I think they changed the formula for the red cake coloring.
I have the original recipe in my grandmother's handwriting.

red coloring. I love cakes like this with a rich, cream cheese icing, but I just don't get the red part. It ain't natural!
