What's for Dinner, Sun., June 2, 2024

Had window cleaners in today and thus worked with no time to cook, so I'm having salad with green olives, turkey bacon, feta cheese stuffed olives, chopped yellow pepper, Vidalia, and home grown romaine. Also chickpeas and cheddar cheese, grated.

Bagel chips and pita chips accompanying.

Iced tea.

You seem to keep a lot of interesting food around!
Or do you shop for food European style, by picking up daily what you need for a couple of days?

We have a market here that I would definitely shop in the European style if I lived close to it.

You do list some tantalizing food!!!

One is a regular refrigerator but the other is a 3/4 size that can keep food exceptionally cold. It amazes me how much longer food will last in that refrig. However, it's not good for vegetables, just dairy, cold drinks, condiments, etc.,
but especially leftovers, which last a long time in it. It keeps food just close to the freezing point but doesn't freeze it.

I don't particularly market shop, but I do go to the various grocery stores fairly often because i like to shop.

The company calls it a Food Store, and there is very little there which is not consumable. (no lawnchairs, bbq grills, small appliances etc.)

What it does have is extremely fresh produce, the only place I would ever consider buying fish, a real butcher shop, wine/beer, fresh baked bread (many varieties) fresh pasta, 600 kinds of cheese, a bulk section, and more

If I could conveniently go there daily or every other day I would do it.

There are only 10 of these stores and they are all in Texas.

It is well known that the coldest place in Fort Worth is the produce department at Central Market, which is one of the reasons everything is so fresh. Kind of like the cold room at Costco just way bigger.

I am going to a friend's house to watch the US Women's Gymnastics finals which are actually here in Ft Worth. We went to the preliminary round Friday and saw the Senior Women, including SImone Byles. Another thing off my bucket list.

She is SO tiny!!! It was fun to watch, but damn those things are so loud!!! I hate that rev 'em up music they play between rounds.

I think this is the last competition before the Olympic Trials. I

zander, which translated from German is pike-perch. I'm going to use this recipe: https://www.weihenstephaner.com/news/zander-filet-serves-4 I probably better have Google help me convert metric to American measurements.

with asparagus and baked potatoes. An Austrian Grüner Veltliner to drink.
