(23,254 posts)1. I save my leftover chicken carcasses that they I buy from Costco and make a big pot of chicken soup
That I separate into small containers and enjoy for frozen leftovers every 3-4 months. My sons favorite meal is grilled cheese sandwiches and the chicken soup.
Made beef stew yesterday in my crock pot and I forgot how delicious beef stew is. Enjoy yours also !

(1,047 posts)2. I do this with ham bones, too.
Pressure can the resulting broth and meat and use it to make bean soup. In fact that is what I am starting just now. It is a chilly, rainy, blustery fall day - perfect day for soup and bread. Going to toot my own horn - baked a beautiful sourdough boule this AM. Eating very well without spending much. Actually no $$ today. Everything from pantry or garden.
