Shrimp and Pineapple Fried Rice with Saffron

This is a fall-blooming crocus in my front flower garden. The stamen is what becomes saffron. I already have some saffron which I will use on my substitute rice, which is couscous. I have a whole box full of fall-blooming croci bulbs, which I am planting this week. It will grow yet this fall and I will harvest the stamens for use in cooking. Sadly, the flowers only stick around for a few days at most.

As you know, saffron is outrageously expensive, so I'm glad I can grow it. To use it, you have to get it wet first.

Kombucha: spicy turmeric and pineapple.

Dessert: tea and almond cookies.

All I know for sure is drinking Orange Mango juice and coffee. Probably soft scrambled eggs and either biscuits with sausage gravy or pancakes.

I got a deli chicken the other day, wanted to use it up. While I was cooking the chicken off the bone, I cooked some barley, vegetables and seasonings in another pot. Strained the broth into the vegetables, picked some of the chicken off the bone. Now I have a choice of cooked food to heat up. All of it mostly healthy

apple/quince crisp for dessert. It's finally cool enough to use the oven!
