I try not to keep ground beef longer than a year, but I’ve had some frozen longer that was fine.

According to the FDA's freezer storage guidelines, the optimal storage time for frozen ground beef is 3 to 4 months. The same goes for any type of ground meat, including ground turkey, pork, veal, or chicken. It's just not worth getting sick from eating it.

it is fine. LOL hell I don't worry if 2 years, not that ground beef lasts that long in my freezer, but I have cut beef that has been there for close to 4 years and it looks fine. I do have a good chest freezer, though. that thing is cold! below zero for sure.

The hamburger was good. I don't have a chest freezer. Just the freezer part of our refrigerator. I will probably be buying a new refrigerator next year. My friend keeps saying he thinks I should get the freezer on the bottom this time.

It might not be as flavorful as it was when fresh, so if you're making hamburgers out of it, don't forget to throw in a little finely chopped onion and a sprinkle of garlic powder to kick the flavor up a bit.

If there's a lot of freezer burn, cut that part off and consider using it in spaghetti sauce instead of making burgers with it.

It's safe. It's not going to be as good as it was fresh.

I'm so finicky when it comes to freezing and using foods from the freezer. I don't have a freezer, just the one that comes with my refrigerator. But I have a very sensitive stomach and my grandson is the same way. I swear, my husband is the opposite, he has a cast-iron stomach and can and will eat anything! but I do try not to poison him! (LOL)

It's sounds like I am a bit similar to you and your grandson. My stomach has been off for the past couple of years. I have been to my Primary Care Doc, had a colonoscopy done, and saw a nurse practioner at the gastroenterologist. They really couldn't find what's causing it, other than my gastrointestinal system is a bit slow, but it still works. I am trying to eat less to see, if it helps. On the bright side I lost 11 pounds.

He was picky about food freshness, etc. Learned behavior for him. Left home at 13 when his parents divorced. Everything i learned about cooking I learned from him.
