The kitty cracks me up. I’ve got one of those sleeping on the LR sofa right now.

Strawberry waffles, maple syrup. Tangelos.

to go to town for groceries. My 4 wheel drive truck sitting in my garage was waxed and spotless. So I took Loretta's Ford Escape 2 wheel drive. It had been a couple days since the last snow, and the school bus went by the house that morning at the normal time. Halfway to Illinois I got stuck on a gravel road in a deep snow drift. No shovel to dig out with, and a long way to the nearest house. I couldn't even open the driver side door because of the snow. I called the county highway garage and asked if the had a snow plow truck anywhere nearby. I told the lady who answered the phone that we were two old people stuck in the middle of nowhere, and too old to walk. She said hold on a minute, then said I have a truck around 5 miles away, and he's coming now to plow you out. When he got there he hooked up a chain, and pulled us out. He then got around us, and plowed the road ahead. Needless to say, we should have stayed home that day. More snow predicted for tonight. I'm already sick of winter.

I lived in the Midwest for a (thankfully) short time and I know how that can happen.

I am so glad your county road people were so responsive!
