Can anyone tell me what this is?

No picture, sorry, just a description...I've seen houses with gray bags hanging from the eaves. They have a drawstring at the bottom. What are they? Yellow jacket traps don't look like these...My curiosity is killing me!

Are the eaves IN the houses or on the porch?
How big are the grey bags?
Are they hung in clumps or separately or ...?
What climate?
What part of the country?
Any specific time of year?

there are 2 puffy polyester bags about 1 gallon size, and they are hanging from eaves at the side of the house, about 15 feet apart. i'm in northern cali, and these were just put up. our climate here is mild.

I do believe I read somewhere of fake wasp nests being used to discourage wasps from building their nests in the area.

Perhaps a google of wasp decoy nests????

i found the "waspinator", but it's sold in the UK. the wasp traps they usually use here in cali are bright yellow tubes that you hang.

thanks for helping me out here!
