Related: About this forumMirror / peg rack done
The other day I was looking at my scrap pile, and saw the pieces I had left over from our table project. There were two H-shaped frames that previously held up the now non-existent leaves, and a small section of quartersawn panel that was leftover from the shelf I made on the bottom of the table.
What to do with some sticks and a piece of panel? I dug around in our hardware drawer and came up with three vintage black cabinet pulls.
How about.. a mirror / peg rack.. thing?
I surface planed all the pieces to the same thickness, glued four small bits into two rails, and glued them together.
Then I installed the quartersawn panel, and sanded / stained / poly'd the whole thing.
I wanted a vintage looking mirror, so I stripped the protective paint off a piece of new mirrored glass and used bleach to age the silvering. It's very subtle, and you'd need to be up close to really see it- I focused on the edges primarily.
With the glass installed and the knobs mounted, here it is!
I hung it over the table, by the front door.
