I'd like to volunteer as host.

I was looking back through the archives, and there are a LOT of great threads and individual posts with lots of great links to how-to's, articles with awesome tips, etc.

I think a list with some of these especially useful threads & posts would be great, pinned at the top of the forum.

We don't seem to get many threads needing to be locked, so I doubt that function would get much use.

Alternately, if we can get an admin to pin a thread, I can start working on a list that we can edit for a new OP.

Thoughts?

eta: We could also do a running list for things like reference sites, materials suppliers, youtube howto's, etc.

Read directions on this link: http://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=about&forum=1158

Start a thread asking for support, this one could be it!

Then send the link and a request to host to skinner by email, per directions in link above.

And once you have 8 or 10 supporters you can email him again and he'll assign you as host!

Go for it, I'm your first vote!

I'd like to make at least one sticky with helpful links that I've been compiling, and get input into more of them that I might have missed.

e.g. IrishAyes posted up a couple of great sites here that would be good in a sticky- http://www.democraticunderground.com/11582779

We have a lot of experience here at DU, and if you take a peek at the archives, it's scattered widely throughout many threads.

I'd like to collect those informative OPs and posts in one central place that we can add to and edit as time passes.

I suppose I could just make a post and keep kicking it back to the top, but all the kicks will add a lot of noise.

I see what you are getting at .You might want to get a listing of the helpful posts than create categories, plumbing, electrical ,painting ,deck repair on and so on so people that run into similar issues have a reference. I would imagine administration would go along with that in a sticky post, but I still don't think this particular forum needs a host.A free exchange of ideas must be free.

Well than lets say give it try and see where it goes. I have seen no spammers ,scammers or disruptor's in this forum other than advertisements removed through auto remove. Here it is simply about people helping people. Plane and simple. It has in the past become a little heated
from time to time ,but everybody is always on the same side for what it all comes down to.
As the saying goes about the heat in the kitchen- heat rises than it cools down ! And thats the nature of the game.
