Make your own fake marble

I read about a technique in apartmenttherapy.com and it looked good: somebody took OSB and painted it with chalkboard paint. Looked good.

was on pillars and posts around one of the earlier "cottages" in Newport that had been made of wood instead of all stone. They used a very light hand, preferring to keep it simple and restricted to things which could have been marble but weren't.

The problem with faux painting is that people who learn it generally don't know where to stop.

Places I've seen people go crazy with it are fireplace surrounds, all flat surfaces in the house, and then they started on the walls.

If it's used in places where marble might be used, and used lightly, it's great. It's also a pleasant surprise to the moving men.
