Related: About this forumDo any DU'ers have a source for board feet of rare wood?
The husband of a friend of mine is a great woodworker. He is planning to make a Birds Eye maple 4 poster bed but is finding it difficult to find a source for the wood. I have seen his work and it is exceptional.
Do any of you know of a source of this special wood? He has the skill and tools but cannot find the wood. I know he has searched the internet and is aware that the cost is high, especially for the wood needed for the headboard. Any suggestions as to a source would be appreciated, I can pass the word along.

(26,549 posts)You'll need a "real" lumberyard, not a store like Home Depot.
It's hard to ship, so you're going to have a very hard time finding anything but small pieces off of the Internet.

(51,438 posts)Try http://www.walllumber.com - they have it for $7 per board foot, truck shipped from Mayodan, NC. Good guys to deal with, but I wouldn't want to think about the price of hauling lumber across the Rockies.
