The final MAJOR replacement is done.

The replacements have been roof, windows, screen doors, furnace/ac, well pump, well tank and today the water softener. Because I have a well, I couldn't go with something from Home Depot and have the guys switch it out. SO, this was a much more expensive financial outlay that I originally imagined but it was necessary. In just the past year I've spent more on replacing things than this house originally cost!

Now I just need to get a new garage door opener and I'm pretty sure the guys can handle that. Then it's on to working on the aesthetics - finish stripping wall paper, paint the walls and kitchen cabinets and pull out the carpeting so the wood floors can be finished. They have been covered since 1967 and are yearning to be freed. We've done some peeking and they look pristine. Then the maybe projects are some new bathroom cabinets and having the aluminum siding painted.

By the time I finish dragging this abode into the 21st Century, I might be so in love with it, I'll stay put!

Hubby and I bought a 'fixer upper' when we first got married. We stayed in it 18 years and had mostly gotten it the way we wanted it but we wanted our daughter to go to a different school district, so we sold it. I still keep up on it on Zillow. The owners that bought it from us did exactly what I had planned for the game room/den/bar area. Hubby always dragged his feet when change was proposed so that part never was touched.

Have fun designing and defining the aesthetics!
