Can anyone recommend a good new toilet to replace our old one with constant problems?

The old one is over 30 years old. We have constant problems with the chain/flapper apparatus. Hubby is disabled so we have a lightweight accessibility apparatus that fits over the toilet, which which provide arm rests to help in getting up.A taller seat would also be good. But it has to be small. This is a second bathroom, ground floor. 28"x43"plus door, approximately. It accommodates a small sink with a pedestal, which is designed for a small half bath.

Any helpful advice would be appreciated! Thank you.

We remodeled our last bathrooms in the late 90s using Kohler and then put them in our new house 15 years ago. They make a nice "comfort height" one as well as the regular ones. Never had a single problem with any of them.

I got two new Kohlers installed about six or so years ago. They are totally trouble free.

It sounds like you may need some kind of special, non-standard toilet, which will raise the cost considerably, as I know from experience. In my case the rough-in (if that's what it's called) where the actual drain pipe was located was a shorter distance than is typical.

easily moved to clean the toilet. It also provides higher arms to help hubby back on his feet again. I was hoping to find one that has high enough arm rests to accommodate that.

I did some bathroom remodeling a few years ago and the plumber told me always to get Kohler toilets, and that American Standard toilets tend to leak although their other products are OK. You can get chair-height toilets, and there are models (round rather than long) that fit in small spaces.
