Old school vehicles with drive shaft use U-joints (universal joints). Front wheel drive vehicles

In industry, they're typically called flex couplings, with dozens of variations.

A flexible drive shaft..Many versions around.

Somebody else noted it was called a universal joint or a constant-velocity joint.
