Related: About this forumI am enjoying my new chain saw, that's for sure
Today I taught the trumpet vine a lesson about who is boss. That would be me. I think.
This is a pole saw so no real danger in cutting off any fingers, toes or limbs. However, my next purchase will be a mini chain saw. The Bradford Pear trees should be shaking in their roots because I'm going to cut them down to size. Stump size.

(32,365 posts)I'm impressed with the battery ones. It tears up my shoulder anymore to start my Stihl 20" Farm Boss. I tried out my brother's 18" electric on a downed oak tree and was totally blown away how well it zipped right through that hard oak. If I were to buy a new chainsaw I would get an electric one.
I did get one of those little one hand electric saws on Amazon for around $50.00. it came with it's own carrying case, 2 chains, two rechargeable batteries and charger. I use this little saw more than I ever thought I would. Oh is it ever sweet for clearing brush and trimming small branches to fit into my wood chipper. I also have a battery operated pole saw I bought at Harbor Freight that works great too.

(16,485 posts)Since I only need one 2-3 times a year, the price difference between a corded or battery was too steep.
I was also impressed with the ease of use. I stopped buying gas powered anything a few years ago. I had the same issue with my shoulders due to too many years of volleyball. I love just pulling the trigger.

(29,339 posts)My newest one came with the pole attachment, but is identical to the stand alone version. I haven't used my Jonsered gas saw in a couple of years, I use them to clear low level tree branches. Works pretty well with most every tree, even pasture spruce which is tough on saws.
