Okay. HDPE and PVC drainage pipes for upright gardens - help?

I've spent hours researching the (mostly lead) hazards from both materials. The ones I bought are DWP, not WP because they're full of holes and not high pressure even if they didn't have holes. I want to build an upright farm but are they safe for consumables? I've been to every government site related to it and many private sites on the subject. The information is scattered at best. Clues? Sites? Help?
