You live in a beautiful part of the country. Is your dirt reddish there? That always surprised me when driving through Virginia -- the red dirt.

Red Hot Poker, Torch lily, Poker Plant
Kniphofia uvaria is the latin name I believe.

I have two varieties of this plant in my garden. It's also labeled as tritoma sometimes.
