Related: About this forumIndoor jasmine plant - question...
My mother is a HUGE fan of jasmine, but she's slowing down a lot and lives in assisted living so she doesn't have her own garden anymore. I want to send her some jasmine (or lilac, her other favorite, but I don't think lilac will thrive indoors -- please correct me if I'm wrong) for Mother's Day.
I have read that jasmine, aside from smelling wonderful, also is a good plant to encourage sleep - smells good, or is relaxing, or whatever it might be that promotes peaceful slumber.
Anyway - I'd like to send my mom an indoor jasmine plant (already potted), but the first place I saw one - White Flower Farm - is sold out. There are many retailers on Amazon, but I really don't have a clue how to determine the best product.
Anyone here knowledgeable about jasmine? Care to offer an opinion? Thanks!

(426 posts)I'm sorry that I don't have an answer for you, Flaxbee, but I hope someone with knowledge of the subject answers your post. I like the idea of an indoor Jasmine plant, but haven't a clue wether they can thrive indoors.

(4,175 posts)10 years ago. She has moved 6 times since then, has no green thumb...and the plant is still doing ok and flowering on occasion. I think they might be pretty forgiving as plants go.

(47,209 posts)I would try and call them and make sure it is full of buds and not past prime bloom wise.
Anything you buy from Amazon will not be as attractive- need potting, pruning, might not even bloom this year. At least FTD will give you something table ready and pretty close to the pics, which were lovely.

(13,661 posts)I'll definitely check. I know their bloom season is winter/early spring; I'd love to get her one this month or next...
