TodayI saw my first artichoke baby on a plant set out over a year ago. Only one of 4 to survive

last winter here but we were so impressed we ordered 3 more 2 year old plants on ebay and now have a cluster. I like growing odd and unusual vegetables (we have a twenty year old asparagus bed and pineapple guava plants so artichokes are an easy addition to the madness.

They are really pretty when they go to seed, too--- but it probably won't last that long!
