If it's mid April, it's time for a frost scare - seems to happen to me every year!

here's where my seedlings were

and here's where they ended up after spending a muggy hour moving them this morning

it is worth the effort....I will sleep well knowing they won't freeze the next two nights!

They are in full bloom here now and it is to be 25 tonight, 33 tomorrow night. My tomatoes are spending the night inside. Buckets will go over the lettuce providing the rather fierce wind doesn't blow them into the next county over. Wind is to die down in the early morning hours which means a probable frost on my blooming apple tree....grrr. Can't cover it. By local tradition, we will have one more cold spell when the blackberries bloom, but it shouldn't frost for that one. I have never known these 'winters' to not happen. Another local tradition is to plant beans on Good Friday. That should be about right as the soil will be warming up now. The UGa extension service published an article several years ago about planting according to Mother Nature. The article said to sow seeds when the dogwoods bloom.

My garden is froze solid. 11° last night. Hope the frost is out soon. I usually seed potatoes and pees may 1st and everything else June 1st. I'm jealous of everyone's longer growing seasons.

They looked okay when I left for work in the morning, but they were pretty wilty when I looked at them again this morning. At least the peach, cherry and apple trees have only just started budding, I don't think they'll have been much affected by this storm. Still, last year we lost everything but one cherry when it went down to 8 degrees on April 29th last year, and then stayed under 15 degrees for a couple more days. Colorado gardening is not for the faint-hearted.

And can I just add... I would kill for a garage to move plants into should it get below freezing!
