what do you call this hose?

I want to look it up, but I don't know what it is called, but I'm sure there must be such a thing--
I have a rain barrel in my garden,
I want something that will pull water from the rain barrel, thru a hose, that I can put into a water can, or directly on the garden.

Is Possible?

where you attach the hose, and the weight of the water is enough to propel it through the hose. If you are trying to draw water from the top of the barrel you'll need a pump.

Make sure the barrel is raised a little

Cut a length of hose about 2X the length from rim to ground.

Immerse in the water to fill the whole hose

Take one end and whilst it is still submerged plug it with your thumb before lifting out of the water leaving the other end in.

Keep the plugged end plugged outside the barrel until it is well below the water level inside the barrel.

Put your watering can beneath the hose, remove your thumb and hey, presto! you are siphoning the water.

what do you mean?
Should I have put it on something, so that the bottom would be higher than the surrounding ground?
(too late now, as I have filled it.)

as long as the outlet is about 9" to 1' below the upper water level you'll be fine

amazing things are available. maybe next year.
since I have little money, or expertise in making things, I was really thinking of the method that intaglio described.
I will give it a try.

That sounds like it would be fun to try. I will have to examine it in more detail.
