A fall from grace. The saga of my white jack o lantern continues. I think it may be ripe. It's too soon. I'll probably leave it for the squirrels. I like them.
I have another matter however. With a burrowing creature.

The burrowing creature and I can no longer coexist. It has become destructive. I can't kill it myself. My inner feminist is disappointed in my gutlessness. I've had to call a gopher man.

It looked at me today from inside that hole. Made me scream like a little girl. And stuck its head out later to chuck dirt. Enough is enough. Brazen little invader.

(60,011 posts)tho I prefer, when possible, trap and release elsewhere.
There is nothing like the experience of being in the garden, admiring the results of much labor, and seeing a plant start to wiggle around and then slowly sink down into the dirt as the gopher eats on it.

(19,288 posts)Who patrol the roof tops for squirrels. I wanted to give them the carcass but I don't think they are scavengers.
I was more afraid it would smell. I've put up with that stinkin' gopher all summer. Hope that's it. Cost me $130.00.
