Related: About this forumI just harvested a bumper crop of R.O.U.S's
Russets of Unusual Size
They were massive! Many of them were over 8 inches long and 4 inches across...Spudatoe Zeppelins!
When I dug the first few up, I thought they were large rocks.
I must have 40 pounds of them.
One looked like Mickey Mouse - eBay!

(8,203 posts)She took me to a farm that allowed us to pick our own potatoes....right out of the field...they were so fresh and lasted much longer than what I can find in the store today....
Thanks for the memory....

(41,780 posts)But the place I have now (here in Maine) lets me have a big garden, grape arbor, berry patches and an orchard.
Some of those spuds I grew are big enough to feed a small family - almost too big.

(3,268 posts)split the potatoes and hallowed out the shells. You could then either bake or even deep fry them into small serving bowls and then just go wild-Tater shell tacos, pizza boats, fill with a creamy chicken filling and top with pie crust for shepard's pie spuds....it goes on and on. I wish I had me some giant taters.
