(24,145 posts)I'm still trying to get the cages around my raised beds finished, to keep out cats and ducks. Chicken wire thrown over each box is pretty pitiful right now.
Already getting a few raspberries and strawberries, little tomatoes. Blueberries, yellow squash, big tomatoes, will be ready soon.

(136 posts)3rd year of this garden, been eating beets, carrots, radishes ,red swiss chard, the best peas I've ever grown( Alderman or "telephone peas" they are 6-7 feet tall and no mildew!) Weed, peppers and tomatoes (Italian oxheart and orange roma+3 tomatoes from last year(big mystery) are all flowering, along with about 400-500 lbs of various potatoes(i'm estimating from last year)150 purple garlic bulbs(the easiest plant to grow EVER) 25 strawberries (small and intense sweetness) and my perennial herbs -rosemary at 3 year, greek oregano at 8 years, chives at 19 years old.(grandma). My favorite thing about summer is waking up and watering my garden then giving away my produce to my friends. This includes my weed strains ( Raspberry Cough, Jacky White, and Clown Royal.) Hooker's blue corn and 4 kinds of basil. Scarlet Emperor runner beans (beautiful flowers) pinto beans and black coco turtle beans. Whew!

(782 posts)Pretty mixed right now. Here it is late June and still getting upper 40s overnight so the tomatoes, tomatillos, peppers and corn are lagging. But with highs near 90 the greens are already bolting. Aaargh! Beans, watermelons, cukes and squash all slow to germinate. On the other hand - Blackberry vines so loaded they look like grape clusters.
Garlic could be huge this year; some of the stalks are about 3/4 inch in diameter. We've been harvesting scapes, cooking some, giving the rest away.
On the flower side, iris are done until the rebloomers come back, cannas starting to bloom. Roses doing pretty well except for the pale yellow. We think maybe the buds are getting sunburned.
