Every year around this time my wife wonders the same as she plants her ever growing garden and we always lament that we haven’t got around to planting trees because we can’t quite figure where they should go and how they should look. And landscape garden people cost a fortune.

Try Gimp, a good, free alternative to photoshop.

Or go old school, print out a photo of your house and plants you'd like to tinker with, cut out the plants and start exploring.
