Advice for indoor plants?

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]My son gave me the lovely, light green tabletop fountain pictured below quite a few years ago. The pump has long since died and the fountain has been collecting dust for a while, but now I'd like to use it as a planter on the coffee table. It is overall 10.5 inches in diameter and 8 inches high, and the center opening is 2.5 inches in diameter.

What kinds of plants would you recommend for this purpose? There's good light from the windows, but no direct sun. I'd like two different plants (preferably easy care) that would get along, one kind in the center (not too tall) and something else in the outer ring.

Suggestions/recommendations?

my house is full of them. At least half of them are the same kind, which is Devil's Ivy, also knows as Golden Pothos. It grows like crazy and can be started from cuttings until your house is full too.

I suggest this because I see that you will not have drainage in this pot, and it can be neglected terribly---overwatered one week and dried out and forgotten the next week. You will have to be careful what you put in this---it cannot be too picky with drainage problems...and make sure you don't overwater it, since the water will have no place to go.

And maybe for the center, a spider plant would work---this is supposed to be another plant that is hard to kill, although I have not had good luck.

I'd try some Philodendrons around the outside and let them trail. The inside might be nice for something upright that doesn't trail and needs less light, like a Pepperomia.

Just don't let the feet stay wet.

[font color="navy" face="Verdana"]Re "wet feet," there is a small hole in the bottom where the electrical cord entered for the pump, and I plan to sit the fountain in a shallow dish to protect the table. That and some coarse gravel in the bottom of the bowl should take care of any potential problem re drainage.
