Brought Cooper to the vet

Brought my dog to the vet yesterday to get a skin tag biopsied. 12 year old rescue All American dog found in the Bronx. Had her since she was a skinny puppy in NYC animal care and control.

I was paralyzed with anxiety all week and am suffering guilt for going to the vet where she got poked and prodded, while simultaneously feeling guilty for being scared to go sooner.

Any words of wisdom for my crazy self and my head-over-heels love for this big puppydog?

It's the gift our pets offer. So, accept the gift. You are doing the best you can and, even if you do make a mistake, Cooper is there for you.

She is an unconditional love dog. I was a little disappointed at quickly she went with the vet without even a hint of hesitation. Felt a little cheated on then (jk). She is pretty fearless.

I've been telling her proud I am of her all day for having good blood work and healthy organs. And for not being angry with me for leaving her with strangers for an hour. I'm crazy, but I think I'm crazy like most people.

with Millie, my nineteen year old cat. She was feeling bad a couple of weeks ago. Turns out she had a bladder infection and is slightly anemic. After some antibiotics and rest she is doing good now.

Taking Cooper to the Vet was a good thing. That’s what we do when we are head over heels in love with our best friends. Keep us posted. 🥰

It is just the most weird emotion. Completely bypassed any attempt to intellectualize.

I read somewhere that for our pets it is basically "Oh the vet, I hate this, ew" but for us it carries the deeper mortal awareness. So I shouldn't feel guilty (or rather I am not technically feeling guilty but rather anxious).

But I was a mess, and I thought I was a strong dude. And nothing bad happened.

“The love for all living creatures is the most noble attribute of man."

IMO anyone incapable of loving an animal can’t be a decent human being.

Hang in there - many many of us here know what you’re going through. We’re here for you.

Very happy right now. Wasn't feeling good yesterday after the anesthesia but she is getting back to herself.

Benign, healthy as a horse. Finished her antibiotics. Continuing her probiotics for another couple of days. Stitches come out on Friday!
