- Private Equity/PE firms and mega corporations control 50% of all veterinary clinics, up from 10% a decade ago. In that time, the cost of veterinary care has increased by double the rate of inflation. Vets told us about short staffing, long hours and constant pressure to boost profits.

They can't afford $6k for the surgery, so they have the vet put down the dog for $600.

We dumped the vet office we had when they got bought out. Turnstile service at premium prices.

There is no level this evil we call vulture capitalism/PE will stoop to.

Also the reason you have seen the full-bore expansion of pet insurance offers. Yeah, they are your friend...believe me...why would I lie??

My friend is older with no children, her dog was her child. The dog had a huge tumor in its eye and it was stage 4, yet they convinced my vulnerable, distraught friend to pay $8k for chemo treatment for her dog. The already sick dog was sickened even more by the chemo and died within 3 months, but not before the vet clinic pumped $8k worth of chemo into the poor dog.

and then signed by Trump (which will never happen). But I'm not sure. It doesn't make sense that an Executive Order could be used to override a law duly passed by Congress.

Check this website--it lists practices that are in some of the major consolidators:

https://www.pets.care/verified/]

Also, look at the bottom of the main or contact page of a practice's website--if corporate owned, usually that's listed in tiny letters there (although it wouldn't surprise me if it's not disclosed).

I wouldn't hesitate to call and ask them before booking.
