Related: About this forumPuppy update! 8 month old Maybee took her first swim in a river.
It was a blue bird day here in western Montana. I didnt think Mabes would jump in and fetch a stick but her big sister is a lab so shes got a great teacher. Maybee rode on my pontoon boat across the Clearwater River and back a few times
.shes such a great sidekick. I was relieved we didnt have a bear to deal with today. We were in grizzly country but we had bear spray on us just in case. Perfect Sunday. I love her so much.

You're fortunate to be in a area like that (in the summer)...I could no longer tolerate the winters.

What a sweet looking girl! I'm glad she has a sibling, they must have a great time together.

(23,838 posts)You never know with a border collie. Some of them dont tolerate water very well. I am thrilled she took to it so easily. I like to take advantage of summers in the rivers and I want her with me so we could adventure together. Theres a little platform on my boat behind the seat perfect for Maybee.

Maybee looks like a best friend for life!
I hear you on Montana, Mama. I hope I get there this summer to see our daughter in Bozeman. Husband just got back from a week backpacking with her in the Bitterroots.
Montana you just fall in love with! Looks like a great day!!

(23,838 posts)There were many color choices but I chose the pink color
I knew none of my boys would borrow it!
The Bitterroot Mountains are amazing
and definitely grizzly country now. Hope all went well for them.

(25,435 posts)no grizzlies in the Bitterroots! Is this a changing situation? You would definitely have the beta!
They always go prepared in any case.
You certainly have style, Mama!!
They made it to the top of Trapper Pk. They had a wonderful time!

(23,838 posts)there was a verified sighting at a golf course near Stevensville...they wander back and forth between Idaho and MT. I love that they're here...I know everyone doesn't share my enthusiasm.
Trapper Peak is fabulous. Your daughter is a badass!!!
For those looking at this thread who may be interested in what your daughter accomplished, here's a photo of Trapper Peak, elevation 10, 157 feet:

(25,435 posts)PS I LOVE grizzlies and ALL the wildies! I'm with you! If we can't live WITH them, we shouldn't live WITHOUT them.
After all - who was here first?
I will share your feedback with the aforementioned daughter!
Don't forget hubby either! At 67, he just recovered from a broken neck, yes, in February, obtained skiing! So - 2 badasses.
I, on the other hand, stayed home and kept things at the ranch running. That would be, small hobby ranch.

I love that you have a parrot, too. I miss being able to have a bird so I just enjoy the ones who visit the bird feeder.
