Related: About this forumI was reading the accounts of the Queen's health and my mood took a sharp turn. Arthur noticed
I was sitting with my eyes closed, processing thoughts about a woman I've looked up to, my entire life. In the days before my birth, my mother sat and watched the coverage of the coronation so you might say my awareness of the Queen started before I was born.
And I have been lucky to have seen her on several occasions, both in London, and in Windsor, Canada. I have countless books about her family. Lots of memories started to flood.
Then when I opened my eyes, this is the concerned little face I saw. He then snuggled in to make me feel better.

(27,461 posts)The myth I was told, by a Yeoman Guard was if the ravens leave the Tower, London will fall. I do believe the ravens have tipped feathers to keep them around. However, they are also treated like royalty, themselves.

(29,169 posts)The Angelo-Saxon kings claimed descent from Woden. It's an ancient association.
FWIW, a nurse who cared for the Duke of Windsor during his final hours reported that a raven would come to his bedroom window. Once he was gone, it never returned.
