Related: About this forumThere's this raccoon
One of our local trash pandas learned to use the cat door to help himself to the buffet.
We responded by picking up the cat food at night.
The raccoon learned when I served cat breakfastaround 5:30and came in to help himself to breakfast the minute I left the kitchen to take a shower.
We then locked the cat doora last resort because the two feral cats who came with the house tend to panic if theyre not free to come and go.
The raccoon sat outside the locked cat door looking pitiful and hungry.
So I made him a sandwich.

(15,201 posts)They have muddy little feet and I worry they might expand their grocery shopping beyond the cat food and into the kitchen cabinets. Locking the cat door hasnt worked wellI had one of our feral cats screaming at me at 2:00 A.M. when he discovered he was locked in. Not sure what the next step is.

(120,035 posts)You might want to talk with the raccoon, put its food elsewhere, and explain that the cats are not to be bothered.
